Trump's Business Attempted to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025
The former president’s corporate entity increased its recruitment of foreign workers on short-term work permits this period, even as his government was creating barriers for other companies wanting to do the identical, an analysis published recently claimed.
According to data from the federal labor department, the business sought to hire at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his winery in Virginia.
The number of applications for temporary work visas for staff including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever submitted by the company, and up from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency concluded.
It was also the fifth instance in a decade that the former president had sought to hire over a hundred overseas workers for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, according to labor statistics.
The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has included the implementation of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.
Overall, the business sought to employ 566 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the presidency, from his first term and during the upcoming year.
Notably, the former president was criticized by some in the GOP this period for remarks defending the need for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy particular roles.
“You can’t just say a nation is entering, going to spend $10bn to construct a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he stated to a host after she suggested that overseas employees lower the pay of US workers.
The administration refused a inquiry for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
