Thousands Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Damage
Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the capital city saw its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services handled 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, over 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the state.
