Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period of this nature with results this poor.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
