Preview this Remastered Classic Journey: This Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Soon.

Fans looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start much longer. An exciting trial experience is set to go live on the seventh of January, granting a sizable glimpse into the game's beginning segments. Importantly, any advancement achieved within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the full game upon its February release.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Transformation

This title is a ground-up re-envisioning of the seminal 2000 role-playing game, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from other series remakes, such as the recently released HD-2D versions, this reimagining adopts a charming 3D art style. The world are designed to evoke detailed dioramas, with party members sporting a delightful chibi-esque design.

"Even with the 3DS port, the narrative was remained notoriously long. So we came to a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for today's gamers."

Key Mechanical Enhancements and Modernizations

The creators has implemented several enhancements to update the classic gameplay loop. These include:

  • Quick Field Encounters: Inspired by modern role-playing games, weaker enemies are now defeated directly on the field eliminating the need for initiating a separate turn-based battle screen.
  • Adjustable Combat Pace: Players can speed up combat animations to quickly get past simpler encounters.
  • New Job Mechanics: A brand new character role was created for this reimagining. Additionally, characters now have the capacity to take on a second job, significantly enhancing strategic possibilities.

These changes are designed to mitigate one of the original game's frequent points of feedback: its considerable scope. The original main quest was known to require more than 100 hours to see through. This reimagined version was specifically designed to enhance flow and cut down on any repetition.
