LeBron James started his professional journey with the Cleveland Cavaliers in two thousand and three.

James will be absent for around four weeks and is set to miss the start of the NBA season due to sciatic issues, Lakers announced.

LeBron James, forty, inked a fresh deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in June and is poised to be the first player to compete across 23 separate NBA seasons.

Sciatic nerve issues refers to discomfort in the nerve that travels down the back and through the leg.

James did not participate in pre-season and was out for the losses against the Golden State Warriors and the Suns this month due to the nerve issue.

James is expected to be sidelined for all five of the team's games in October, which includes the first game against Golden State.

The star, the highest points scorer in history, has never previously missed the opening of the NBA year in his 22-year career.

His tally of over 1,500 games played is only 50 away than breaking former Boston star the legend's all-time record.

The four-time NBA champion appeared in seventy of the LA Lakers' 82 games last term and competed in 71 occasions in the year before.

Last season, LeBron James recorded 24.4 points per game, more than 8 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game per game and came in sixth in the MVP vote.

The Lakers qualified for the playoffs in 2024-25 but fell in five games against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round.
