"We send our thoughts and our care for him as he faces this."

Portland also won their initial match after the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the squad to a decisive 139 to 119 victory over the Warriors.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' over Arrests

Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Silver stated he was "very upset" by the events of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the fairness of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner also mentioned an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We investigated that situation and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating since then. Naturally, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"And 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in justice to Rozier.

"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and investigating."
