The UK is ready to advance with using the total value of seized Russian funds to support the Ukrainian military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this joint measure would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to come to the table.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the United States.

UK sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian assets since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, until now, money sent to Ukraine using Russia's funds had solely been drawn from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to drive progress toward utilizing the total worth of the frozen Moscow's national holdings to conclude the conflict.

He added that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement is subsequent to EU representatives convened in Copenhagen recently to discuss utilizing immobilized Russia's funds for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to confiscate or otherwise use immobilized Russia's holdings, according to news outlets.

The value of immobilized Russian funds in the European Union is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Russia launched widespread bombardments throughout Ukraine on Friday, resulting in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

While commending the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as enforce more restrictions on the Russian Federation.
